Aoyama Christmas Market - Cozy and early Christmas activity in Japan
How do you feel about Christmas? Regardless of our beliefs, this season is about joy and celebration, each country has its activities, but today I will share one that I joined early one December and was cozy.
I remember hearing the term Christmas Market long ago, usually referring to events held in European countries, especially Germany. These markets tend to include food, drinks, Christmas, and seasonal goods. I always wanted to go to one of those, but traveling to Europe was just a dream for me.
However, in 2016 I got a scholarship to study one semester abroad at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS). Among many of the things that the stay in Japan gave me, was the possibility of learning about foreign cultures that I only knew from the TV.
Around the mid of December, a group of friends invited me to Aoyama Christmas Market, in 2015 and 2016 near the Meiji Shrine, Shibuya. This place was a little far from the campus of the University, even with the train, but my friends and I decided to give it a try.
Soon after we arrived, I was surprised by the good vibes of the place. The weather was a little chilly, but the inside was crowded, and everyone was so happy, making it feel cozy.
