This is a perfect place for you to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life and let your soul break free for a while.

I've realised that Biwako Valley is not a popular place among tourists as it is only active in winter when tourists come here to ski. For the rest of the year, it is quieter than other tourist destinations in Shiga.

However, for me, summer is the best time to come here since its cool weather and fresh air is always keeping me sane.

How did I travel to Biwako Valley?

I started my journey to the valley from Osaka. It was quite challenging and required lots of patience as I had to change many routes.

First, it took me about 1 hour to Kyoto by train; then I changed the line and took another train for half an hour to get to Shiga. From Shiga Station, I took a bus for 20 more minutes to get to Biwako Valley.

Let's take a cable car to the mountain!

My friends and I bought cable car round trip tickets. A ticket costed 1900 yen (for adults) and 900 yen (for kids). If you decide to purchase a ticket that includes all types of cableway (there are smaller cable cars that head to the higher places), it would cost around 2,500 yen.

I had to queue for an hour just to buy tickets. The fact that I was queuing for so long and I suffered from acrophobia made me way too nervous and want to go home.

However, as soon as I got on the cable car, the Biwako Valley appeared so magnificent that my eyes were glued to the views and I completely forgot my fear of heights.

Appreciating Lake Biwa from the windswept mountain top

Not until I reached the top of the mountain did I feel so lucky that I decided to make this journey.

The blue sky also seemed to be watching the fresh breezes rustling the foliage and grass on the mountains. Tourists' hair kept fluttering in the gentle breezes as if they were being warmly welcome by the breezes.

In the distance is Lake Biwa, which looked like a giant sea monster rolling slowly and lazily around the valley, and sometimes turning to talk with its "best friend" mountain hiding behind a curtain of mist.

Let's check in at the stunning sites on the mountain

If you are seeking a corner from which to enjoy an unimpeded view of the valley and admire the beautiful Lake Biwa at its fullest, then you should definitely not miss out on The Biwako Terrace cafe ^^

Because of its ideal location for sightseeing, this cafe is often filled with visitors who come to enjoy the view.

Enjoy the breezes in the valley

Sitting on the top of the mountain on a beautiful sunny day and enjoying the blue sky and floating clouds are rare peaceful moments that keep me sane and heal my soul.

I then continued to take the cable car up to the highest point of the valley. Due to the large number of tourists, I had to queue for a long time to wait for my turn.

As soon as I reached the highest point of the mountain, in front of my eyes was the space that was immense and seemingly endless with no end. The wasting time for cable car is so worth it! ^^

Experience fun activities in the valley

There are many exciting activities and games for you to explore in the valley, such as sky walk - aerial walking, grass skiing, stilts, badminton and swings. You can play anything you like and it's completely free! ^^

Because there are diverse games for visitors to choose from, I was able to play without having to wait in line.

Once getting tired, my friends and I decided to go down to the foot of the mountain to rest and have some food. The food at the restaurants at the foot of the mountain was quite delicious and the price was pretty affordable. Don't forget to try the hot udon and freshwater fish at Lake Biwa ^^

In addition, you can also visit the surrounding areas because the local here plants many stunning flower fields, which is unmissable for those who love posting photos online ^^
