Camping under the magical Kawaguchi sky
Kawaguchiko is a part of Yamanashi Province, located at the foot of Mount Fuji, a place that attracts countless tourists with its majestic scenery. Especially, the big Kawaguchi Lake is the ideal camping site for those who want to enjoy the magnificent landscape of this place.
This was not the first time I'd been to Kawaguchiko, as the sky, th flora, the lake, the magnificent Mount Fuji kept me wanting to come back.
On an autumn day in mid-November, the peak of the red leaves season, me and some friends had "packed and gone", camping at Kawaguchi Lake to enjoy the nature here to the fullest.
According to plan, we would go straight from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko, but in the end, we decided to stop by Chureito Pagoda for some sightseeing and photos. We took the Fujikyu- Keio Highway bus with ¥1750 for one-way and then walk to the pagoda.
After looking around, we continued our trip. With just ¥300 per trip on Fujikyuko Line, I arrived at Kawaguchiko Station.
Kawaguchiko greeted me with cool autumn breezes as if there were someone caressing my cheeks. The autumn air was so fresh, the red-leaf trees embellish nature with the most vibrant colors, Mount Fuji stood majestically from faraway.
The clear lake reflected the clouds as if embracing the surrounding. When coming here I felt so at home, comfortable and carefree.
After taking a look around the lake, we set up our tent at Tozawa Camping Ground and set up homemade dishes while chatting about the newly-taken photos.
This camping site opened all year round and the prices were reasonable, the fee for setting up then was only ¥2500 per night and the surcharge ¥200 per person. Although there are countless hotels, restaurants, vendors, entertainment sites,... around the lake, we still decided to prepare things from home to save costs.
Being with friends was already a great time but the scenery here made these moments even more memorable!
Kawaguchi Lake seemed to bear different beauties at different moments. In the daytime, the lake appeared with charm and liveliness, whilst in the nighttime, it came into view as mysterious yet indescribably alluring. The sky was twinkling with countless stars, Mount Fuji peeking from far away.
We enjoyed the view while playing board games. This would definitely be my best experience so far.
Your trip would be more interesting if you get to do boat paddling. The boats are painted blue that made them looked rustic yet very cute. The rental place was right next to the camping ground so it was very convenient, so this would definitely be a great choice for those who love both boat paddling and camping!
The rental fee for a 2-person boat is ¥3500/day, starting from 8:30 am, discount of ¥500 for children. As far as I'm concern, primary school students can already accompany their parents on the boats.
The short trip finished with both satisfactions and regrets, as none of us wanted to leave this serenity and go back to the hustle and bustle.
Every time coming here was a new experience, I might never get bored of this place. Till we meet again, Kawaguchi!
