My favorite trip in Japan: Kimono & Onsen in Kinosaki
In Japan, we can enjoy Japanese "traditions" at many places. But today I would like to share one of the most impressive and magical place! Let me guide you to Kinosaki Onsen, a place known as "the best onsen town in Japan".
I lived in Japan for over two years while pursuing my master's degree. I tried as much to learn about the culture and have new experiences. In the beginning, it was hard due to my lack of friends, but I met my husband, and everything changed!
We lived for a while in Ibaraki, Osaka. This city is not so big but close to Osaka and even Kobe. The family of my husband lives in Hyogo, and during the summer of 2021, we spent some time there! One day, we wanted to go out for the weekend, and they suggested we spend a night at Kinosaki!
Kinosaki is a town in Hyogo Prefecture. Known for being an onsen area, it has seven hot springs, traditional hotels (ryokan), and streets! The city is 2 hours and a half from Kyoto and Kobe (by JR train), 3 hours from Osaka (again by JR).
We borrowed the car from my husband's family, and our journey started from Kakogawa! It was a three-hour drive with a free road.
As soon as we arrived, we went to our hotel (ryokan), called Morizuya. It was 20 thousand yen for the two of us and included many services! The first thing that surprised me was the hospitality of the hosts. They welcomed us warmly, gave us some items, and showed us the place.
