Carvaan Tokyo is located on the 12th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square. The latest renovation of Shibuya Station has allowed a direct road from the JR Line to 3rd floor of the mall. Everything is fully covered so there is no need to worry about rain or shine.

If you're coming through the other lines, there is the Metro Line, Keio Line and Tokyu Line as well making this a really convenient location..

The name Carvaan is based on caravan in ancient Persian. Apparently at Carvaan, the food, alcohol, furniture, building materials, furnishings and even the tableware are brought in to Japan.

We went on a weekday and there was no need to make any reservations because there was no crowd and it was fairly empty. Even from the outside, the place already looked so captivating.

We were lead to our seats. Just look at the furnishings. Everything was so beautiful and classy. All the utensils were gold. What a fantastic way to make me feel rich.

We decided to go for the Arabian Afternoon Tea Plate at JPY2900. It has 7 kinds of desserts. All 7 uses Arabian ingredients and there is even the Arabian scone with different spices.

You also get to have two cups of drinks from a choice of coffee, hibiscus tea and Darjeeling tea. We figured both coffee and Darjeeling tea can be drunk in other places so we picked hibiscus tea for both rounds.

It was served in this golden container with a long handle. The cup even came with a cover. Because hibiscus tea has a slight sourness to it, they provided us with agave syrup so that you can add it in to make this perfect blend of sweet and sour.

Look at how intricate the handle of the container is. And the pretty reddish tint the tea has. I like the sourness because it reminded me of a childhood drink so it was tasty both with or without sugar.

We also had the Falafel Shawarma which can be added on top of the Afternoon Tea Plate. It is an Arabian roll sandwich with falafel, herbs, salad and hummus which is made from chickpeas. The falafel is a deep-fried patty made from ground chickpeas, fava beans or both.

This was absolutely delicious. So, so, so fantastically delicious. Everything came together so beautifully. On it's own, it was already really good. With the sauce, it was heavenly. I so highly recommend this. You must eat this when you come here.

This whole combination was really good. The scone was warm and only crumbles in your mouth but not in your hand. It was really delicious. The Greek yogurt with the fruit confiture and syrup was a perfect blend. One tip, don't add all the syrup one shot. It might get too sweet.

Starting from the blob of Maron Glace which was the seasonal Arabian gelato, going clockwise: Baklava with nectar and pistachios, Arabian cheesecake, fruit beignet with necter and spice, dates and cacao cake, carrot and walnut cake and the one in the middle is the berry and rose vegan mousse.

It's so fascinating how everything has not a bit of white sugar in it. It is all natural sugars like dates. Each and every dish had their own special uniqueness. It's not all totally sweet. There were some savoury parts as well. I highly recommend you try it because everything was really good in their own way.

My most favourite was the carrot and walnut cake. The light sponginess was just nice and the spices were so fragrant. Even now I can remember how it taste and felt. Excellent.

We ended becoming the last to leave so we managed to take this photo. Overall, the atmosphere, the service, the food, was A+. It might be a little on the expensive side but this was such a good experience that I would like to come again to try their lunch.
