Tokyo spots that transform into autumn - winter fairytale
Every season is beautiful on its own, but there are especially scenic places that are decorated by human work or by nature. Here are some amazing places I enjoyed that are must-to-visit during autumn and winter seasons...
1/ Great Christmas atmosphere with Roppongi Hills Streets
You may want to visit this area especially in winter. Just grab a hot coffee at any café on the way and walk along the Main Street. It will make no difference from the average New York streets in winter with the exciting feeling of New Year.
2/ The illumination show at Caretta Shiodome
Another lovely place just next to Shimbashi Station that makes you thrilled with its llumination show.
Once you visit it, you will really feel like you are in the world of your favourite Disney cartoon. The time we’ve been there it was Aladdin, but the cartoon changes every year. Every time you may encounter different songs from the cartoon and breath-taking LED show that is synchronized with a music.
From there on you may want to walk towards Ginza street which is just 10-15 minutes of walking. Famous with its 5th Avenue style and bunches of luxurious stores - Ginza is another street that sparkles with New Year lights. You can stop by and walk along the Main Street, maybe with a new fabulous purchase from one of the top-stores.
3/ The man-made island: Odaiba
This artificial island is a must-to-visit for anyone at any time of the year. The numbers of shopping malls and different facilities will not let anyone stay bored.
Autumn is a time when you can sit in the park being surrounded with yellow trees and the view of Gundam. In winter you can enjoy the Christmas tree from Aquacity shopping mall and the seaside, with mini Statue of Liberty on the side.
If you plan a dinner, have it at TGI Fridays with astonishing night view. And if you’re lucky, then you may have fun watching a fireworks and dozens of shining ships at the New Year eve.
4/ Ariake Garden
Another lovely area called Ariake Garden is just a few stations away from Odaiba. This shopping mall has opened just in October 2020, but is already getting famous with its big entertainment park and immense shopping options for the whole family.
The terrace of the mall has amazing garden with playground and fountain. On the way back home you can enjoy lovely illumination view along the street both in autumn and winter.
5/ Campus of University of Tokyo
No one mentions this place for a fall season visit but it is worth it. You’ll have some nostalgia for your student times, or if you are already a student, just have a look at this amazing yet historical buildings surrounded with yellow-red-orange colours. Make sure to visit a sacred pond in the hidden place, it is so peaceful and good for meditation.
6/ Shibuya Starbucks
It has all the classic touristic sights such as Hachiko, Shibuya Scramble, the view from the top of Shibuya sky. But one of the most favourite places would be Starbucks at Tsutaya building, where depending on the season you can grab a fresh Pumpkin-Sweet potato latte in autumn or Gingerbread Frappuccino on the Christmas evening.
Meanwhile watching thousands of busy people crossing at the same time and forget all the worries behind.
7/ Roppongi Hills Mori Tower
You may think that the best place to observe the whole Tokyo is Skytree, but I have a greater idea!
Since the Skytree itself is such a big and astonishing element of Tokyo, you have to have it in your picture together with the whole shining panoramic view. So just get to a little less taller tower and enjoy the whole Tokyo. Whether it is winter illuminations of Roppongi Hills, or colourful autumn trees, experience a scenery from the top.
To sum up, this is entirely my own vision on the most colourful and shining spots that can be experienced in coming Autumn and Winter 2020-2021. Of course Tokyo is full of more colourful and picturesque venues, however I found the ones listed above to be quite magical and breath-taking.
If agreed, do not hesitate to put likes, if you have anything to add, I'd love to see your list in the comments.
