What's interesting about my one-day trip in Okinawa?

If you only have a day to discover Okinawa, where will you go? I decided to visit Okinawa Churaumi aquarium, going to Kouri Ocean tower to view Okinawa paradise of floating islands, and then finishing my trip at Sakemachi market eating a bowl of tasty Soba noodles.

On my business trip to Okinawa with my company in order to attend a conference, I and my colleagues were given an extra day by my boss to relax after having completed our work. Since there was only one day, the whole group listed some tourist spots we wanted to visit and followed the plan in a very scientific way.

What's interesting about my one-day trip in Okinawa?

Morning: Visiting Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Address: 424 Ishikawa, Motobu, Kunigami District, Okinawa 905-0206

Time: open for tourists everyday, from 8 a.m to 6:30 p.m

Ticket Price: 1800 yen/ person.

Note: An interesting point of this aquarium is that the ticket price will be discounted 30% for visitors coming in the afternoon after 4 p.m (only 1260 yen/person). Although the aquarium is so large, we only spent 2 hours there, so if you want to save money, let's visit it after 4 p.m.

When we arrived at the aquarium, it was coincidentally the starting time of a dolphin performance. Our group quickly came to watch such smart and supple dolphins.

The performance lasted only 10 minutes, so we were extremely lucky to arrive on time. However, because I was too focused on watching in that 10 minutes, I forgot to take some photos to bring home for my daughter.

What left the deepest impression on me and made me unforgettable when coming here is the image of Jinbei shark swimming flexibly in Kuroshio pool.

Shark has always been associated with something frightening in the eyes of children, but seeing the kids clapping their hands when watching Jinbei shark here, I found this shark very friendly and cute.

Afternoon: Warm-up with Kouri Ocean Tower

We chose to visit this observatory because people could admire a panoramic view of the nature here. With a high viewpoint, I was able to see the whole Okinawa parasite of floating islands captured in my sight, and seeing the picturesque Kouri bridge connecting Yagaji with Kouri islands.

Address: 538 Kouri, Nakijin, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture 905-0406

We had lunch near the aquarium and waited till the early afternoon to move to Kouri tower as the distance between two places are quite near, about 25 minutes driving.

After admiring the stunning landscape from above, we continued to visit Seashell Museum to see the seashell collection with the number up to thousands of seashells. Each of them has a unique beauty and attraction.

In late afternoon, viewing sunset at Cape Manzamo

As having planned to definitely view sunset at Cape Manzamo, from the previous destination, we quickly moved to the cape before 5.15 p.m and then, waiting for the coming of twilight scenery.

What's interesting about my one-day trip in Okinawa?

There is nothing more fantastic than standing on the cliff with a unique shape and looking up to the sky at the moment of sunset falling and dyeing the whole sky red. Then, I looked down to the tranquil emerald green water. All scenes were as calm as our souls at that time, and I suddenly felt extremely peaceful.

When you arrive, there will be a free parking lot for cars. There is also a path for tourists to go for a walk. No matter how slowly we walked to contemplate the view or take photos, it only took us 20 minutes to go along all this path.

Final night in Okinawa: Walking around Sakemachi market

Sakemachi market opens from morning to late evening on all days of the week.

Visiting Sakemachi market made me miss my hometown so much. Fruits are sold diversely and there are many similar kinds to the ones sold in Vietnamese markets, such as banana, mango, pineapple, lychee and plum.

The most special thing of Sakemachi market is cane juice with 250 yen/ 500ml bottle. Though I have lived in Japan for a long time, I hardly see such glasses of cane juice like in Vietnam like this.

After buying some fresh fruits, we came to a nearby eatery and ordered some bowls of Soba noodles, which are strongly recommended when visiting the market. Soba noodles also closed our business trip combined with travel.

It is happy that we arranged a pretty good itinerary to have an extremely blissful day together in Okinawa after hard working time.
