Yume no Tsuribashi suspension bridge – love in between high mountains and thick forests
Unlike other sacred pagodas, Yume no Tsuribashi bridge is a place to pray for love and could be the most beautiful and romantic place in Japan. The greatly magnificent beauty of the crystal pure water in an area of mountains and forests is what impressed me the most when I came here
I never thought that I would come here to pray for love, as I simply wanted to feel the breath of the wild after days of intense working conditions in the urban area. Therefore, we chose Kawanehon Town of Shizouka Prefecture, a remote mountainous area, in which the suspension known as the "second-best of Japan" is located.
The suspension bridge is 90m long, leading over Oma Damn lake. Coming here in autumn, you will be able to enjoy the grand beauty of the red leaves. Or if you're like us and come here during the summer, you'll be able to indulge yourselves in a lively and picturesque painting of nature itself.

Access
From Senzu station, we caught a bus to Sumatakyo Onsen - a lovely valley blessed by nature with the abundant forest and a turquoise lake called Ohma Dam. To get there, we had to walk pretty far through the charming hot spring town, then a mountain pass road called a mountain climbing road for around 30 minutes.

A ticket for a bath in the hot spring was only somewhere between 1000 and 1200 Yen, but we skipped that because we didn't have much time.

Marvellous color
From afar, Ohma Dam lake drew our attention thanks to its special color - turquoise and emerald green. I wondered why the water color was so strange. Maybe Mother Nature had blessed it with that wonderful cloak.
Like a treasure of this area, the lake was covered by green mountains, so the water surface was as calm as an ice rink: there were only a few gentle ripples, then they disappeared in the illusory water.

When I approached and really had to make my way over the legendary Tsuri bridge, I almost gave up. A "skinny" bridge over the water surface has the length of up to 90m and height of 8m.
The bridge was as charming and attractive as a lady in the middle of nowhere. However, in order to "win her heart", people had to be very brave. My footsteps had been really heavy since the very beginning.

I'm not afraid of heights, but I always felt wobbly when I could only walk on a tiny wooden pathway.
I was about to turn back, but then remembered a certain saying of a person when we were having ice cream at the Onsen town that: "If a girl walks to the middle of the bridge and wish for a wholesome love, that wish will come true." - along with the encouragement of my boyfriend. I then took a deep breath and moved forward.
Gradually, the beauty of nature had helped me forget the initial fear. The more I walked, the easier and more interesting it got. I felt really lucky when I got to take a look and enjoy the scenery as gorgeous as a painting.

A large and spacious area. A wildness with a little taste of solidarity of nature. The gentle sunshine on the lake looking like a mirror. The bridge symbolizing the beauty of a rock solid and vigorous love relationship in the middle of the mysterious area of mountains and forests left me in awe.

There weren't too many tourists here, so it was not noisy. Taking a few photos for your social media with a free spirit is something you definitely cannot miss when you conquer this bridge. I prayed and hoped for what I wished for to come true.
Coming here on a nice day, you don't need a lot of money in your wallet. You only need 300 Yen for the bus, 1000 Yen to enjoy local dishes to the fullest. If you have time to spare, you can spend another 1000 Yen to bathe in the hot spring in Sumatakyo Onsen, and have a wonderful love relationship in return.

In my opinion, I had a little feeling with this place if not a feeling of love. However, I believed in the miracle when I prayed at Yume no Tsuribashi, because I came here with him - the one I have always trusted in and we have been happy so far.
